Star996: a sports-betting brand with a casino side, and what we can and cannot tell you about it

Star996 is the odd one out among the platforms on this site. Every other name here (918Kiss, Mega888, ACE333, Joker123 and so on) is a slot-first phone app. Star996 is a sports-betting brand first, with casino rooms bolted on.

What Star996 offered

The old version of this page described Star996 as a sportsbook plus "Casino, Games, Poker and Bingo rooms". That is a wider spread than the slot apps, which have no sports markets and no bingo at all. The branding matches: the logo is a gold "STAR 996" wordmark with a Chinese character for star in front and five gold stars underneath, and its promotional art leaned on football imagery.

The old page also made licensing claims. We have dropped those, because we cannot verify them, and platforms of this type are not licensed in Malaysia.

How it differs from the app lobbies

With 918Kiss or Mega888, you install one app and every game sits in a single grid. Star996 was pointed at through a browser link on the old site, not a downloadable app, which suits a sportsbook: odds pages and bet slips work fine in a phone browser.

That also means the manual-style breakdowns we do for other platforms (tabs, buttons, jackpot bars) are not possible here. We have no screenshots of the Star996 lobby itself, only its logo and banners, so we will not guess at its layout.
