Fong Shen (3Win8): symbols, the 9-line paytable and the double-up screen

Fong Shen (封神, the "Investiture of the Gods" story) is a small nine-line slot in the 3Win8 lobby. Its one unusual rule is written right on the first help page: wins count from the far left reel or from the far right reel, so a line can connect from either end instead of only from reel one.
The reels and the element discs
The reel frame sits between two stone temple guardians on a misty mountain backdrop. Above the five reels are five dark discs marked 土, 火, 水, 木 and 金, the five elements (earth, fire, water, wood, metal). The earth disc also lands on the reels as a symbol. Line numbers 1 to 9 run down both sides in coloured bubbles.

The gold bagua disc with the yin-yang in the middle is the Wild. It stands in for every symbol except the five element discs, which have their own rules on the later help pages (the screenshot is page 1 of 6).
The shot above shows how it works in practice: a Wild and two women on the right-hand reels, everything else greyed out, for a 0.20 win at 0.01 per line. That is exactly the 3-of-a-kind value of 20 times the line bet.
The double-up screen
After a win the DOUBLE button replaces AUTO. It opens a paper-screen stage with four character portraits at the top labelled x2, x3, x4 and x5, and shadow-puppet figures behind a wooden frame. Your stake here is the win you brought in (BET 0.20 in the screenshot), and STOP takes you back to the reels. A higher multiplier means a longer shot, and a miss loses the whole win.
Setting the bet
LINES shows 9, the green minus and plus buttons move the LINE BET, and the BET/WIN box multiplies it out for you (0.09 per spin at 0.01). With a two-way paying game it is tempting to raise the line bet quickly; keep it at the floor for the first 50 spins and see how often the low beasts and cranes actually connect.

Does Fong Shen pay in both directions?
Yes. The paytable says line symbols must sit on consecutive reels starting from the far left reel or the far right reel, so a line can pay from either end.
