Great Blue (ACE333): symbol by symbol, from the card letters to the orca

Great Blue is the underwater slot most Malaysian players have seen in one lobby or another. On ACE333 it uses the same purple bet panel as Geisha Story and Iceland, so if you know one of those you know the controls here. This page goes through the symbols.

The layout

The reels sit on a bright blue sea with the silver "GREAT BLUE" logo above them. Line numbers run down both sides in a scrambled order (4, 2, 24, 20, 16 and so on on the left), which is just how the 25 lines are labelled where they start and end. MAJOR, RANDOM and MINOR jackpot meters sit at the top.

Low symbols: the card letters

9, 10, J, Q, K and A are drawn as pale blue letters with bubbles inside. They land most often and pay least. In most spins here they fill more than half the screen.

Sea creatures

The middle of the paytable is made up of five animals:

• Orange seahorse
• Yellow-and-white striped fish
• Pink starfish
• Green sea turtle
• Grey shark

The shark and turtle are the bigger pays of this group in the Playtech original.

The two symbols that matter

The orca is the wild. It shows up as a killer whale leaping out of dark water, and it can land on any reel (in these shots it appears on reels 1, 3 and 5).

The pearl shell is the scatter: an open pink shell with a white pearl. It does not need to sit on a line. The old ACE333 page said two or more anywhere pay an instant win on top of line wins. Three or more start the free games, where you pick from a row of shells to add free spins and a multiplier in the original.

Setting the bet

The hero screenshot shows the full setup: LINES 25 and BET 1.00. The others were played at LINES 1 and BET 0.01 to keep the cost down, and the balance only moved from 27.25 to 27.22. On one line, a single orca or shell outside the middle row does nothing for line pays, so for this game it is worth playing all 25 lines at the smallest stake rather than one line at a higher one. The scatter pays either way.
