Genie (Joker123): the lamp, the expanding free-game symbol and the 20-line paytable

An Arabian Nights slot whose free games work like the classic book-style feature: one symbol is chosen at random and expands to fill its reel.

Genie is a 20-line slot set inside a red palace arch, with flaming wall torches on either side and gold line markers down both edges of the reels. Despite the name, no genie shows on the reels in these screenshots. The star of the game is the lamp, and the free games follow the well-known "one symbol expands" pattern.

The screen

Five reels of three rows on a dark maroon background. The card letters are drawn as ornate calligraphy: a gold A, a red K, a purple Q, a green J and a blue 10. The picture symbols are a turbaned young hero, a red-turbaned guard with a black beard, a flying carpet and a curved scimitar. The magic lamp sits on a glowing purple disc.

Winning positions are wrapped in a sparkling white frame, which makes it easy to see a short win like a few red Ks helped by a lamp.

The paytable

  • Turbaned hero: 1000, 300, 100, 10
  • Guard: 600, 200, 75, 6
  • Flying carpet: 400, 150, 50, 4
  • Scimitar: 200, 100, 25, 2
  • A: 150, 75, 20. K: 100, 50, 10. Q: 75, 25, 6. J: 50, 20, 4. 10: 25, 10, 2.
  • Lamp: 100, 40 or 2 for five, four or three.

The four picture symbols all pay on two of a kind, which the card letters do not.

The lamp and the free games

The lamp does two jobs. It substitutes for all symbols, and three or more of it anywhere on the screen trigger the free games.

When the feature starts, one special expanding symbol is picked at random. During the free games, whenever that symbol lands, it expands to cover all three positions on its reel and pays in any position on the lines played. In practice that means the chosen symbol does not need to line up on adjacent reels. If the pick is the turbaned hero, the feature can pay well. If it is the 10, it mostly pays small amounts.

The help screen also shows the 20 line patterns in a grid under the rules, useful if you want to check why a win did or did not count.

Bet and pacing

At PLAY 0.01, TOTAL PLAY is 0.20 GP, the cheapest setting shown. The base game gives frequent small wins (0.10 to 0.20 on the screenshots), so the balance drifts rather than drops. Budget around the feature instead: decide how many spins you are willing to wait for three lamps, and stop there if they have not come.

Troubleshooting and questions

What does the lamp do in Genie?

It substitutes for all symbols and is also the scatter: three or more anywhere trigger the free games. Five lamps pay 100 on the paytable.

Which symbol expands in the free games?

It is chosen at random at the start of the feature. The help screen uses the 10 as its example, but any symbol can be picked.
