The Mulan takes its name from the old Chinese story of Hua Mulan, the daughter who went to war in her father's place. Live22 sets the reels in an army camp at dusk: a wooden watchtower and tents on the left, a big war drum on a stand on the right, and a BEIJING badge on the corner of the frame.

The reels

The grid is five reels by four rows, a row taller than most Live22 slots. Picture symbols are painted rather than cartoon:

  • Red dragon, coiled and snarling
  • Green and gold armour piece, drawn on a green tile
  • Red war banner with the character 花 (hua, Mulan's family name)
  • Woman warrior in a silver helmet, on a gold tile
  • Black iron helmet and a halberd
  • A, K, Q, J, 10 in gold letters

The hero screen shows two red dragons stacked on reels 1 and 3 and two warrior portraits side by side on the bottom row, which hints that these symbols can land stacked.

How a win is reported

The message box under the reels does the explaining. Before a spin it reads "MAX BET FOR HIGHER WINNINGS", which is advice to ignore. After a win it names the line: "Line 10 Wins 10" in one capture, "Line 28 Wins 10" in another. A thin gold line traces the path across the grid, sparkles mark the counted symbols, and the amount is printed on the last one.

Both captured wins were card symbols: K, K, K on line 10 and A, A, A on line 28, each paying 10 at a total bet of 50. In the first, the WIN box showed 20 for the spin, so a second line paid as well.

The panel

TOTAL BET with minus and plus, MAX BET, the WIN box, AUTO SPIN, a round FAST button and SPIN. FAST shortens the reel spin. It does not change anything about the odds, only how quickly you get through a budget, so leave it off if you want the session to last.

Starting stake

The hero was taken at 200, the others at 50. With a four-row grid and a line count in the high twenties, 50 is a comfortable place to start and see how often the dragons and the warrior connect.

Troubleshooting and questions

Is The Mulan a Disney game?

No. The title comes from the old Chinese legend of Hua Mulan, and the art is a painted, realistic style. Nothing on the screens suggests any link with the Disney film.

Which symbol is the wild?

The captures do not label one and no paytable was captured. The old page described Mulan's own portrait as the wild; treat that as unconfirmed until you check the i page.
