Golden Rooster is filed on this site under the old misspelling "Golden Roaster", but the bird on the reels is very much a rooster. The machine is red and gold with blue reels, "ALL WAYS" printed on both posts, and a gold bowl above the reels between the GRAND, MAJOR, MINOR and MINI meters.
The ACTIVE SYMBOLS strip
At the top, a red box labelled ACTIVE SYMBOLS carries four icons: the rooster, a jade dragon disc, a silver ingot and a string of firecrackers. Those four are the symbols with a gold version on the odds table, so the strip appears to show which ones pay at the gold rate for your current GOLD SYMBOL setting. At GOLD SYMBOL 48 all four are shown.
The odds table
For five, four and three of a kind:
- Rooster: gold 500, 100, 50; plain 50, 10, 5
- Jade dragon disc: gold 400, 80, 40; plain 50, 10, 5
- Ingot: gold 250, 50, 25; silver 50, 10, 5
- Firecrackers: gold 150, 30, 15; plain 50, 10, 5
- Gold coin: 100, 20, 10
- A, K, Q, J, 10, 9: 50, 10, 5
The SCATTER is a round medallion: five give 20 free games, four give 15. The line for three is cut off, as is the rest of a rule about "3 or more consecutive" scatters or purple 福 tiles from the left.
A ways win
Gold coins on reels 1, 2 and 3, in different rows, count as a ways win: "You won a total of 20".
Stake

Is it Golden Roaster or Golden Rooster?
The game is Golden Rooster; a rooster is on the reels. This site's old page title spelled it Roaster, and the web address keeps that spelling so old links still work.
What are ACTIVE SYMBOLS?
The strip at the top shows the rooster, jade disc, silver ingot and firecrackers. These are the four symbols with gold versions on the odds table, and the strip appears to show which are upgraded at your GOLD SYMBOL setting.
