Safari Heat (Mega888): the animal reels and the red-or-black gamble

Safari Heat is a savanna slot with a red sunset sky, animals on the reels and a small herd walking along the horizon above the logo. The Mega888 build runs 15 lines. The part worth a page of its own is the card gamble that can follow a win, so most of this guide is about that.

The reels

Five reels, three rows, line numbers 1 to 15 down both edges. The animal pictures are the big symbols: a lion's head, a zebra, a flamingo, a buffalo, a blue-lit elephant and a green-tinted rhino. There is also a tile showing a lone acacia tree against a yellow sunset. The low symbols are the card letters 9, 10, J, Q, K and A, each in its own colour.

Across the top run three meters, MAJOR, RANDOM and MINOR. Along the bottom: CURRENT BALANCE, LINES with minus and plus, BET with minus and plus, WIN, AUTO START and SPIN.

None of the tiles carries a WILD or SCATTER label in these screenshots, and the acacia is the only picture that is not an animal. Check the menu icon in the top right for this version's pay rules before assuming what it does. The LPE88 copy is covered at Safari Heat on LPE88.

The Last Cards gamble

After a win, the game can switch to a separate screen headed LAST CARDS. A buffalo stands in the grass on the left and a wooden board holds three things:

• a RED button on the left and a BLACK button on the right
• a face-down card with an orange tribal pattern in the middle
• a long empty strip below the card, which by the look of the LAST CARDS title holds the previous cards drawn

Under the board are two boxes. BANK is what you have now; DOUBLE TO is what you will have if your colour comes up. In our capture a 0.04 win sits in BANK with DOUBLE TO showing 0.08. The COLLECT button at the bottom takes the bank and returns you to the reels.

Should you use it

If the card is a fair 50/50 draw, doubling does not change your average result at all. What it does change is the swing. One wrong call wipes the whole bank. If you are playing a small balance for time on the reels, collect and keep spinning. If you do gamble, decide beforehand how many doubles you will allow, one or two, and stop there.

Stake notes

The first screenshot shows 15 lines with BET at 1.20. The others are at 1 line and 0.01, where the balance drops a single cent per spin (117.57, 117.56, 117.55, 117.54). That is the cheapest way to watch the game, not the way to hit the animal lines.
